You can prevent your ads from showing for certain IPs. Excluding IP addresses of computers or networks is done on the Settings tab.

Use the Settings tab to exclude IP addresses at the campaign level. Thus, the distribution of all campaign ads is blocked on computers and networks associated with these addresses.

Why use the IP address exclusion?

You may want to use the exclusion by IP address because you’d like to:

  • exclude the IP addresses of your competitors;
  • reduce unwanted clicks and impressions from your corporate network.


People working in your business regularly check how the ads appear in Google. Unwanted impressions and accidental clicks are expensive, you can choose to exclude the IP address of your company network.

How to exclude IP addresses?

Here’s how to prevent your ads from showing to certain IP addresses:

  1. Sign in to your AdWords account at .
  2. Click the Campaigns tab and click the Settings tab.

  3. Click the name of the campaign where you want to exclude the IP address.
  4. Scroll down to the Advanced Settings section, and then click the IP Exclusion.
  5. Click in the Edit link next to “Manage IP exclusions”.

  6. In the box, enter the IP addresses you want to exclude. Enter a single IP address per line. You can exclude up to 100 IP addresses per campaign.

  7. Click Save.

To view or edit an excluded IP address of a campaign, return to the Settings tab.


Some ISPs attribute the same IP address to multiple computers. If you exclude an IP address of this type, you could prevent many legitimate customers seeing your ads.

How to remove exclusions of IP addresses?

To remove an IP address exclusion of your campaign, follow these steps:

  1. Follow steps 1-5 above.
  2. In the box, remove the IP addresses of your choice.
  3. Click Save.
